Pure Elixir, Cape Town

Elixir is a little cafe on Bree Street, in the heart of Cape Town. They offer amazing superfoods smoothies as well as homemade wraps to go. The entire menu is vegan and locally sourced. It is an effortless combination of health and convenience. You can pop in for a superfood smoothie to go, or hangout at their street side tables and talk with the friendly staff.

Also the vegan chickpea curry wrap is a must try. It’s made by locals with an Indian flare of spice.

I met with the owner and creator, Maya, and she told me how Elixir and her other businesses have grown into what they are today. Maya tells me how she got her start selling fresh produce at a stall on Green Market Square and steadily expanded into everything she does today. This including multiple cafes and clothing lines around Cape Town, all sharing a holistic approach to business. Their fresh ingredients are sourced from local farms and support programs such as Soil for Life; a non profit organization that supports people to grow organic, healthy food in a sustainable way and create jobs in impoverished communities.

Choosing a place like Elixir is a way to support a different style of business. One where the food you're eating is made from natural plant based ingredients, grown by people who are being paid well for their time. And you don't have to go make a donation to support this, you just have to go to a reliably sourced place like Elixir, which has delicious choices anyways!
